Festive Party Makeup Tips

From foundation to the finishing touches I got ya covered 💄💋🧡

Whoo Hoo it’s that time of Year….Christmas🌲get togethers, New Year’s Eve parties🎉 ….Any excuse really!! Festive party makeup is all about bling & fun. Let your hair down & wow your colleagues at those end of year functions.

Here’s the lowdown on how to dazzle this Season.

FOUNDATION:

Keep it simple. Think about the practicality of the makeup you’re wearing. Going out all night dancing, go with an oil free liquid or mineral powder. In other words, go with a foundation you know will go the distance. Examples: Napoleon Perdis China Doll, this baby isn’t gonna budge, or Estee Lauder Double Wear.

Heading out for a sophisticated cocktail party🍹 go with a soft dewy foundation or a tinted moisturiser. This will have your skin looking fresh & radiant. Examples: NARS Sheer Glow & Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. Add concealer only where you need it.

CHEEKS:

For cheeks, I still like that “I’ve just run around the block” look. Shades in soft pinks, glowing apricots & dazzling corals are my fav looks. Always add that pop of highlight to the to the top of your cheek bones. Sigma & Morphe have some gorgeous highlighting products. If I’ve applied a pink hued blush, I apply a soft pink highlight. If I applied a more bronzy, summer time look to my client a soft apricot/copper highlight gives overall cohesion to the makeup.

EYES:

This is where you can really have some fun!! For my clients who are after a Red Carpet Look, I do a sexy mettalic smoky eye, you can do this with any colour palette. Purples 💜royal blues💙golden hues💛 greens💚anything your heart desires. Here’s the kicker, to this you can add a fine glitter to your mobile lid in a shade that enhances the sultry smoky eye. If I’ve created a gold look I’ll add a glitter shadow in a soft mauve or green. For a bronze smoky eye adding a little charcoal glitter results in pure sophistication. Here are 2 tips for getting the glitter shadow to adhere to the lid:

Pop a tiny amount of eyelash glue onto your mobile lid & simply pat the shadow on top.

Mix the liquid with a little eyeshadow activator & pat onto the lid.

Even better grab yourself some Lemonhead Spacepaste available online from Scotty’s Makeup & Beauty. Available in 24 iconic shades it will just glide onto the lid.

Last but not least apply some luscious lashes to completer the effect.. If you’re going to play up your pout keep the eyes simple.

LIPS:

If you’ve gone all out with your eyes, go for a nude lip with just a hint of colour. If you’ve kept the eyes fairly neutral by just adding some winged liner & falsies, go for a bright fun lip colour 💋Shades of fuchsia, oranges & translucent reds are perfect for this time of year.
