No matter our age we all want a pair of soft, sexy lips, to saturate in colour; be it bright, bold orange, scarlet, berry š or a soft muted nude or pink. Ā Your lip colour sets the tone for your day; striking, confident, sophisticated or soft & romantic.
Our lips need & deserve the same amount of attention & skin care as our face & decolletage. Remember skin prep is your best friend when it comes to the perfect makeup look, your lips are no exception. Ā
As we mature, our lips loose volume & can become downturned, making them look thinner. Conditioning, exfoliating & hydrating your lips will have them looking youthful for longer & ready for your favourite swipe of colour.
Getting the Perfect Canvas for Your Pout š
Exfoliate
You can use one of 2 methods.
1. Start by applying a generous amount of your favourite lip balm. Allow to settle & sink in for a couple of minutes. Ā Now take a soft baby toothbrush or a textured washcloth & gently rub over your lips. The lip balm softens the dry skin allowing it to flake off easily.
2. You can grab a lip scrub. Ā Thereās lots of brands to pick from such asĀ Burt Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub,Ā Lanolips Lip Scrub CoconutterĀ &Ā e.l.f Lip Exfoliator in Strawberry. Ā Just follow the directions on the packaging.
Moisterise
Apply your favourite lip balm or lip moisturiser at least a couple of times a day or whenever they feel dehydrated. My absolute desert island product for this is Sigma Hydro Melt Lip Mask. If youāve sat in my makeup chair you know I always apply this as part of your skin prep. Containing hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, jojoba & shea butter, itās a total lip conditioner. Available at Sephora & online at Sigma Beauty.
Lip Masks
I advise all my clients with a big event on the horizon to apply a lip mask at least 2 times a week, for 4 weeks, if possible, prior to the event. My all time canāt live without mask is Mecca Cosmetica Night Lip Treatment.
Why? because colour adheres better to a smooth service. It gives your lipstick longevity. Iām gonna be honest here, you will need to reapply throughout your special event, even the long-lasting lip stains wonāt last forever.
Lip Plumpers
Are designed to temporarily enhance the colour & size of your lips; achieved by causing increased blood flow or a mild irritation to the lips.
Including ingredients: menthol, peppermint oil, capsicum, cinnamon, hyaluronic acid & peptides, to result in a slight swelling &/or tingling to the lips.
